October Challenge: Cold Showers
Have you ever considered taking a cold shower for a month? Yes, you read that right. It might seem a bit daunting at first, but hear me out. Cold showers are said to have some pretty amazing benefits, like improving circulation, boosting energy levels, and even improving skin and hair health. Plus, it’s a great way to strengthen your willpower and test your limits. Of course, we’re not saying you should jump straight into an ice bath, but gradually easing yourself into taking cold showers can be a refreshing and invigorating change to your daily routine. So, why not give it a try? You might just surprise yourself with how much you love it…
What to Watch: Confess, Fletch
Jon Hamm revives the Irwin “Fletch” Fletcher character played by Chevy Chase back in the 1980’s. More of an understated comedy, not as silly as the first original movies. Excellent cast. Great movie for an afternoon date and dinner after.
What to Peruse: Oaktree Capital Insights
Markets are not too encouraging right now, but that can change quickly. Is the Fed going to be able to pull off a soft landing? Will my 401k ever recover? Are housing prices going to come down? Not sure anyone really has the answers to those questions, but reading what some of the best investors are thinking certainly helps put everything into perspective (aka think long-term). Oaktree Capital is a global investment firm with $159B under management and they post some great free content under the Insights page on their website.
Workout: PVC Shoulder Mobility Exercises
I’ve always had issues with my shoulders. It started with bad weightlifting technique in junior high and high school, and just has continued with poor posture sitting at a desk all the time or staring down at my phone. But doing some PVC mobility exercises the last couple of months has really helped to loosen up my shoulders and work some of the kinks out.
Weekend Sale: J Crew Factory
If you’re in need of some chinos, jeans or brushed twill shirts for the fall, J Crew Factory is a great option. My biggest complaint with J Crew Factory is that you have to pay for return shipping. I have a J Crew Factory outlet about 30 minutes from my house so I make returns there free of charge, but if you don’t have a store nearby, then you’re going to be on the hook for returns unfortunately.
