Today I am going to be reviewing a shaving cream by a company that most of you have probably never heard of: eShave. And that’s a shame, because eShave is a great company that has a diverse and high quality line of products.
eShave has been around since 1996, hence where the name comes from because this was the tech bubble craze. It was founded by Danielle Malka who at the time was working as a marketing consultant in the men’s grooming industry. During this time she quickly realized that men weren’t getting the quality of shaves they could and there was a big market for higher-quality shaving products.
Over the past 20+ years, eShave has really developed an excellent line of products. What are some key features of eShave products?
- Very modern
- Minimal packaging
- Vegan
- Paraben free and sulfate free
Basically, they make high quality products with good, healthy ingredients. Danielle still runs the company with her husband, Pierre, and they are still cranking out shaving products that are highly regarded by wet shavers.
Let’s take a look at eShave’s shave cream and see if it’s right for you.

Key Features of eShave Shave Cream
Rich, Thick and Easy Lather
eShave’s shave cream lathers up incredibly well. It’s best, and easiest, when applied with a shaving brush, but you can definitely still lather it up pretty easily with your bare hands. A high-quality shaving brush helps though because the water that is retained in the bristles is really what helps generate the product into nice, thick lather. It’s like using a cheat code.
eShave’s shave cream is probably in the premium price range of shaving creams, but the 4 ounce jar will last a long, long time. A little goes a long way so you shouldn’t be going through it very quickly. So although it is more expensive upfront, it’s probably around average on a cost/shave basis.
Overall, this is one of the quickest and easiest shaving creams to whip into a good, thick lather.
Average Lubrication
eShave’s shave cream is definitely one of the best at lathering, but I think it is around average when it comes to lubrication. As the razor glides over my face, it just doesn’t feel quite as slick as some other creams or soaps.
Don’t get me wrong — it still does a great job at providing adequate lubrication and I always get a nice smooth shave without any razor irritation when using eShave shave cream. But there are a few options that provide a more slick lubrication in my opinion, if that’s something that is really important to you.
Mild Scent
eShave’s shave cream is available in 4 different scents: white tea, lavender, orange sandalwood and verbena lime. I’ve only ever used the white tea scent and I really like it. It’s a mild but very refreshing smell (which I like). If you’re looking for an overwhelming classic smell like something your grandpa would have used, this isn’t it.
Very Gentle on the Skin
One of my favorite things about eShave’s products is that they are incredibly gentle on the skin. All their shave creams are both paraben free and sulfate free and there’s no animal ingredients or synthetic colors. Bottom line — there’s nothing that should irritate your skin.
And when it comes to the scent, eShave uses perfume top grade fragrances. Again, high quality and irritant-free ingredients which make for a very gentle product.
All of this is why eShave is one of my favorite brands for men with sensitive skin. There shouldn't be anything in the ingredients that will cause irritation unless you have an allergy to one of the ingredients.
Superb Shaving Cream For Moisturizing
Another reason I’m a big fan of eShave’s shave cream is because it does a superb job of moisturizing your skin. You all probably know that you should be moisturizing after a shave. But it never hurts to get some moisturizing in during the shave as well if possible, right?
So what makes it such a great moisturizer? Well the main reason is because it is made with glycerin and coconut oil. These 2 ingredients do an incredible job at hydrating the skin and leaving it feeling silky smooth after a shave.
Combine those ingredients with the fact that it is paraben free and sulfate free, and you’ve got a premium shaving cream. A lot of shaving creams you see in drugstore might add products that claim to moisturize, but they also have a lot of ingredients they will dry your skin out to the end effect is that it doesn’t really help.
Who Do We Recommend eShave For?
I’m a big fan of eShave’s shaving cream. If you’re looking for a vegan shave cream that lathers incredibly well and moisturizes your face, this is an excellent option.
I particularly think this is a great shaving cream for men with sensitive skin. It is very gentle on the face and it will leave your skin feeling hydrated and refreshed after a shave.
It’s also excellent shave cream to use in the winter when your skin dries out. It’s also great for men that live in a very dry climate as well. Basically — if you have dry or sensitive skin, it’s a great option.
And while the price is above most shaving creams, just remember that a little goes a long way with eShave’s shave cream. This 4 ounce jar will last a long, long time.
What Are Some Other Creams and Soaps To Consider?
Taylor of Old Bond Street
Taylor of Old Bond Street is one of the most popular shaving creams among wet shavers. It’s just an excellent cream that lathers incredibly well and preps your beard for a shave. It really softens the whiskers nicely while keeping face moisturized.
Taylor of Old Bond Street is available in many different scents — I think there are around 20 to choose from.
TOBS might not be quite as gentle as eShave, but it’s still really easy on your skin and shouldn’t cause any irritation. If you’re looking for a classic shaving cream, this is one of the best.
Geo F. Trumper Coconut Oil Shave Cream
Geo F. Trumper is another shaving company based out of England and their shave cream is very similar performance to Taylor of Old Bond Street.
It lathers up remarkably easy and is very slick. Really good lubrications.
I’m a big fan of Geo F. Trumper products and wish they would get a little more recognition. So if you’re looking for a great old-school shaving cream, give this one a shot.
Henry Cavendish Himalaya Shave Soap
Have you considered using a shave soap instead of shaving cream? If not, take a look at Henry Cavendish’s Himalaya shave soap.
Shaving soaps take a little more work and preparation to lather, but the reward is that they usually provide amazing lubrication. And that is the primary reason why I recommended soaps for men that routinely get razor burn.
Henry Cavendish’s soap does everything you could ask for: it lathers really well, it provides great lubrication and it even leaves your skin moisturizer afterwards.
